Meet Your School Board

Dan Wolsky

Dan Wolsky - Board Chair: 2005

I attended Corvallis Schools from 1st grade through 12th grade. After graduation from CHS in 1984 I attended college at Concordia University of Chicago and after receiving my degree in 1988 I worked in the Chicago area until 1997. In 1997 my wife, Karen, and I decided to move back to Montana to raise our children. We did not hesitate when we considered where to move to. It had to be Corvallis. It has been an honor to serve and represent the community of Corvallis. I believe we have one of the best districts in the state of Montana and I am excited to be involved in our educational process. I would encourage everyone to get involved with the District; you will find we have one of the most caring districts around. It is our commitment to the community that we will continue to strive for excellence and continue to be advocates for our children. It is my hope that we continue to graduate well rounded young adults by providing them the tools necessary to be successful.

I attended Corvallis School District from 3rd grade, and graduated in 1981. After graduation I married my high school sweetheart and moved to California to pursue my dream of becoming a Professional Firefighter. We achieved that goal in San Bernardino County and I promoted through the ranks to retire as a Captain.  After over 30 years as a public servant helping people in all ways a fashions and having 4 children along the way I retired and returned home to the Corvallis area.  I am contuining my public service as a trustee for the Corvallis School District.  Now my grandchildren are starting the school years in the District.  I want the highest level of education to be taught and the safest environment to learn in, I believe our students and staff deserve that and with the community and boards help we will have these things.

I grew up on our family farm outside of Columbus, MT and left after graduation to receive my Bachelor’s Degree at Colorado State University. I then continued my education at the University of Iowa to obtain a PhD in Immunology, I have always had the vision that I want to help others for my career. My husband and I moved to the Bitterroot Valley in 2008 where he works as a dentist and I work at Rocky Mountain Laboratories. When we started to have children, we purposefully moved to Corvallis because of the excellent reputation the Corvallis School District has. I have a son and a daughter that are currently at the primary school. Corvallis Schools are known for providing excellent education as well as maintaining a focus on each individual student. As a trustee on the school board, I want to ensure that we continue to provide this experience to our students and help prepare them for whatever they choose to pursue after leaving Corvallis Schools. I am honored to represent our community on the school board. It is my goal to make decisions that focus on students first and providing our staff with the resources they need to get the job done well.

I went to school in Oilmont Montana, where the high school was closed when I was in 6th Grade. From that experience I realized how the school is the center of the community. You lose your school and you lose your town. I graduated from Northern Montana College in Havre Montana with an Elementary Teaching Degree. My husband, Curtis and I moved to Corvallis in 1974. We made an old Cheese Factory into a mechanic garage and a home. I taught in Corvallis and Victor. We have four children that all attended all 13 years in the Corvallis School. Nels was born in 1978 and is an Electrical Engineer, Brenda born in 1980 works for us and was in the US Navy, her children Aurora and Image Reesman also attended school in Corvallis. Allen is a pilot for Southwest Airlines. He and his wife Jackie live in Corvallis with their two girls, Iva 7 and Addalee 5. Maria born in 1988 lives with her family in Bozeman. I have taken an active part in the Corvallis Community. I belong to several local organizations.

I ran for School Board because I believe that I can be a voice for the taxpayer and the teachers

My family and I moved to the Corvallis School District in 2020 from Ft. Bragg, NC.  I grew up on a small farm in Pennsylvania that has been in my family for five generations.  I joined the US Army right out of high school and reenlisted after September 11, 2001.  I went on to become a member of the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Parachute Team and am proud to be one of the very few females to graduate from the Military Freefall-High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) course.  While in the military I attended night classes and earned my bachelor’s degree in history.  I then worked for the Army as both a contractor and Government Civilian testing equipment for Special Operations, while still attending night classes and completing my master’s degree in Business and Organizational Security Management.

When my husband retired from the Army, we had a choice to move anywhere we wanted to raise our family.  The small town I had grown up in had changed and we both wanted our children to have access to a good education and the small town values we had growing up.  Over the years we had visited different areas of Montana and chose to move to the Bitterroot Valley because it had that feeling of home.  Every day I am glad we moved to such a beautiful valley with such an amazing community.  As a trustee on the school board, I want to represent the values of our community and ensure that my children and all children receive the best education in the safest facilities possible.

As a second-generation Blue Devil graduate, I also have had children attending the Corvallis schools since 2004 with the last on track to graduate in 2025. My spouse Darren and I have been owners of a reputable custom cabinet shop for over twenty-five years. Additionally, I have years of experience in bookkeeping and have helped a number of successful business owners establish and manage their companies. Growing up in the Bitterroot Valley, my love of service began as a teen volunteering in church activities and various community organizations. I am a co-founder of C.A.T.C.H. (Citizens Acting Together Creates Harmony). A non-profit organization focusing on citizens being active participants in their community through beautification projects while promoting community safety and safety education. The outdoor activities that this Big Sky Country has to offer are where I find relaxation and fun with family and friends. As a trustee my focus is to foster and support our children with exceptional and innovative educational opportunities to cultivate their interests. If Corvallis is the heart of our valley, then our school is its pulse which breathes life into our community. I am honored and thankful for the opportunity to serve you.
