The Corvallis School District will be hiring a full time, 1.0 FTE Human Resource/Operations Director, and would like to extend an invitation to apply. If you are interested in this position, we will consider internal transfers (from our current tenured certified staff who qualify) called Arena 1. The HR/ Operations Director application will be open for one week and all qualified employees will need to submit the information below directly to Heather Smart at the District Office. If this position is not filled internally during Arena 1, then an external search will begin immediately called Arena 2.
Arena 2 interviews will be open to any internal and/or external certified candidates who must complete a full district application to qualify for the open position. Upon the completion of Arena 1 interviews, any open position will be reposted (Arena 2) to include qualified external candidates.
Arena 1 interviews will be exclusive to our current certified staff who qualify for the HR / Operations Director. The open position will be posted on our district website for one week and interviews will be executed shortly after.

Position Description: Human Resource & Operations Director - 2025-2026 school year
Reports to: Superintendent

Summary
This position reports to the Superintendent and provides consultation, guidance and assistance with human resource related issues as outlined in the roles and responsibilities section of this document. Minimum of 5 years Leadership In Education, a Montana State Licence for Administration / Educational Leadership, and relative experience in Human Resources.
Essential Functions
ā¢ Assists the superintendent in managing, directing and supervising human resources processes and procedures.
ā¢ Coordinates hiring process procedures in conjunction with the superintendent including job postings, licensure requirements and completed applications.
ā¢ Helps the district in recruitment processes.
ā¢ Consults with and assists the superintendent and other administrators with supervision, evaluation and employee relations.
ā¢ Provides advice and support to the school management and administration regarding School District personnel related policies and practices. Revises and/or develops policies and procedures specific to the School District.
ā¢ Helps develop personnel forms and creates job descriptions for certified staff.
ā¢ Oversees maintenance of accurate and complete personnel records for certified staff. Ensures that rules concerning confidentiality and retention are followed.
ā¢ Ensures compliance with federal and state laws related to FMLA, Equal Opportunity, pay and other related compliance initiatives.
ā¢ Keeps abreast of legislation affecting human resources; trains management and monitors policies to ensure compliance.
ā¢ Responsible for monitoring staff absences and leaves, including FMLA requirements.
ā¢ Responsible for providing information to employees regarding COBRA and other rights upon cessation of employment.
ā¢ Conducts and/or designs new employee orientation programs for certified employees, new teacher training, and district onboarding of all employees.
ā¢ Responsible for overseeing employee benefits programs.
ā¢ Works with the superintendent and administrative staff to set long-term staffing goals and strategies.
ā¢ Oversees training and safety programs in context of compliance with government regulations.
ā¢ Serves and Equal Opportunity/Civil Rights Officer
ā¢ Serves on the Title IX team for the district following all Title IX procedures and poli cies.
ā¢ Serves as the ADA Coordinator for the school district for employees and applicants/visitors.
ā¢ Makes regular reports to the superintendent and/or the Board as requested.
ā¢ Handles daily operations with state agencies, including but not limited to OPI, Board of Public Ed, and local governmental entities.
